NC Bass Nation 2022 State Team Qualifiers – Press Release
The North Carolina’s Bass Nation’s 2022 State Team is set. 195 participants vied for the 20 state team spots available. The three qualifiers were held on the Roanoke River, Lake Wylie, and Lake Gaston. The top 20 qualifiers will compete against 9 other states in April of 2022 on Smith Lake near Jasper Alabama. The top Boater and Non-boater from each state will advance to the BASS National Championship with the location unknown at this time. Top three contestants from that event will advance to the most recognized event of bass fishing, The BASSMASTER Classic!
Roanoke River Results – August 28th, 2021: Brian Stalls for his first time on the state team and was crowned the Boater champion with five bass weighing 17.80 pounds. Roger Thomas, former BASS Nation National Contender, was crowned the Non-boater Champion with 19.65 pounds, the largest bag in the tournament. Houston Cash was second on the boater side with 16.85 pounds and Chris Carnes was second on the non-boater side with 16.25 lbs. David Swain was third on the boater side with 15.80 lbs and Danny Hayes was 3rd on the non-boater side with 11.85 lbs. The anglers above punched their way onto the 2022 NCBN State Team.
Lake Wylie Results – October 16th, 2021: David Winters qualified for his first time on the state team and was crowned the Boater champion with five bass weighing 13.92 pounds. Chuck Knight was crowned the Non-boater Champion with 6.92 pounds. Chris Carnes was second on the boater side with 9.64 pounds and Keith Thomson was second on the non-boater side with 5.48 lbs. Derek Lilley was third on the boater side with 8.84 lbs and Lucas Oliver was 3rd on the non-boater side with 5.04 lbs. The 4th place non-boater was Justin Griggs with 4.58 lbs. The anglers above punched their way onto the 2022 NCBN State Team. Former state team member Johnny Guffey was the 4th place boater and is the first alternate out.
Lake Gaston Results – October 23rd, 2021: Jay Wright has been close to making the state team before but this time he made sure there was no doubt. He qualified for his first time on the state team and was crowned the Boater champion with five bass weighing 19.43 pounds beating the field by 7+ pounds with a five fish limit weighing 19.43 lbs. Zach Leech was crowned the Non-boater Champion with 5.13 pounds. Norman Mullinax was second on the boater side with 12.37 pounds and Johnathon Cannady was second on the non-boater side with 5.05 lbs. Charles Anderson was third on the boater side with 11.49 lbs and Ryan Hayes was 3rd on the non-boater side with 4.94 lbs. The 4th place boater was Big Triton Tim Harris with 10.89 lbs. The anglers above punched their way onto the 2022 NCBN State Team. State President Chuck Murray is the first alternate out.
