Richardson Wins 2017 Eastern Qualifier
North Carolina hosted their NC B.A.S.S. Nation Eastern Qualifier at Bayside Marina out of Pembroke Creek on the Chowan River on May 19th and 20th with 110 anglers vying to represent the NC BASS Nation at the 2018 BASS Regional hosted by B.A.S.S. with all hoping to continue on the road to qualify for a shot at the BASSMASTER CLASSIC!
Adam Richardson of the Hog Snatchers Bass Masters led from Day 1 to the end of the tourney. His first day catch of 18.42 gave him the extra nudge he needed. On Day 2 he brought 13.75 pounds to the scale to seal the deal! He was crowned the 2017 NC B.A.S.S. Nation Eastern Regional Boater Champion. Adam has qualified once before on the state team, however this was his first championship win. I expect we will see him in the winner’s circle again in the near future! Congrats Adam on an awesome job! Adam was also the anchor on his Hog Snatcher team winning their first Team Championship with a total weight of 92.50 edging out the Sandy Creek Bass Masters Team that had a total of 90.86 pounds. .
Adam was challenged however by several anglers bringing big bags on Day 2. Mike Lanier of Pender County Bass Masters brought 19.29 pounds of bass to the scales on Day 2 to finish second with a two day total of 31.66 pounds. David Ward of the Outer Banks Bass Masters brought 18.07 pounds on Day 2 to finish third with a two day total of 29.65 pounds. Ed Collier of Five County Bass Masters took home 4th place with a total of 26.98 pounds. Mark Lamb brought the largest bag of the tourney on day two weighing 20.04 pounds jumping from 27th place on Day 1 to 5th place on Day 2 with a total weight of 26.89. The top four anglers have punched their ticket to the B.A.S.S. Eastern Regional hosted by B.A.S.S. in order to qualify to the National Championship vying to make it to the BASS Master CLASSIC! If one of the four can not make it to the event, Mark Lamb will move up into a qualifying spot. He is the first alternate up.
Danny Hayes of 5 County Bass Masters was declared the NC B.A.S.S. Nation Non-boater Champion with a total two day weight of 20.11 pounds. This is Danny’s first NCBN championship and his first time advancing to the NC Bass Nation State Team. Danny was Mr. Consistent bringing in 10.13 on Day 1 and 9.98 on day two. Congrats, Danny! Great Job!
Lance Kornegay took second place on the non-boater side with a two day total of 19.55 pounds just a little shy of the Championship title. Third Place went to Bill Frazier better know as “POSSUM” to B.A.S.S. Elite Angler Gerald Swindle. Bill brought in a two day total weight of 18.64 pounds and will advance to his first B.A.S.S. Regional Qualifier. Bill is the NCBN Conservation Director and does a WONDERFUL job in his role. Congrats to all the anglers who will advance to the next level.
