Murray & Groves Win At Gaston
Chuck Murray and Randy Groves continue their hot streak on Gaston Lake this weekend with 5 bass weighing 14.71 lbs, taking home $600. The duo caught fish on top water, jigs and big worms to bring home the first place prize. They also had the big fish of the tourney of 5.16 lbs, taking home another $100 barely beating Jeff Narron and Tim Little out as they had a 5.13 lb bass, good enough for $70 for having the second largest bass.. Eric Schell and Todd Smith took home the second place finish with 5 bass weighing 14.08lbs, Cory Leonard and Cory Bynum took 3rd with 13.80 lbs, Adam and Gene Richardson took 4th place with 13.22lbs and Jeff Narron and Tim Little took 5th place with 13.13lbs. Only 2.20 pounds separated the top 9 places.
The points race continues to be hot as Chuck Murray and Randy Groves (298) hold a small 8 point lead over Cory Leonard and Cory Bynum (290), Eric Schell and Todd Smith have taken over third place with 278 points, Jay Wright and Ricky Ballance hold 4th with 274, and Mark Robertson and David Ball are in the 5th place with 271. These results are with each competitor dropping their worst finish.
Jay Wright and Ricky Ballance continue to hold the big fish of the year with a 6.60 pounder caught at Roanoke Rapids Lake, Chuck Murray and Randy Groves continue to have the largest 5 bass limit of the year with 21.54 pounds at Gaston Lake and they also maintain a small lead over Cory Leonard and Cory Bynum and Mark Robertson and David Ball for the Total Weight Prize, 64.90, 61.48, 57.08 respectively.
