Jennings & Patterson Claim NC BASS High School East Division Victory
Falls Lake – December 3, 2016
Fifteen dedicated youth angling teams braved the crisp air on Falls Lake for the first of four events for the North Carolina BASS High School East Division. Searching for the best five largemouth bass species that they could catch and bring to the scales for the afternoon weigh-in, each team of young anglers battled for not only bragging rights and prizes, but for valuable points that will ultimately determine who will advance to the Bassmaster High School National Championship.
Logan Jennings and Alden Patterson topped the field with their five fish limit that weighed in at 13.14 lbs. Jennings and Patterson relied on jerkbaits and lipless crankbaits to secure their victory. Each were rewarded with first place plaques.
Filling the second position was the team of Jonathan Lanier and Dylan Lechtrecker with their four fish weighing in at 7.44 lbs. Each were rewarded with second place plaques.
The duo of Tyler Goss & Clayton Shaw secured the third spot with their catch of 7.40 lbs.
Nathan Canaday and Kyle Davis filled the fourth spot with their catch of 6.74 lbs. The duo also earned the Z-Man Fishing lunker award by catching the single largest fish of the event at 4.71 lbs.
Rounding out the top five was the tandem of Nick Mitchel and Trevor Lewis with their catch of 6.27 lbs.
Teams were greeted with hot pizza as they returned for the afternoon weigh-in. A special thanks goes out to Beth Long for her part in picking up and serving the food items and to Collins Inc. for providing the food items.
The next event for the North Carolina BASS High School East Division will take place on February 25th 2017 at Lake Gaston. For more information on how you can participate in the Lake Gaston event, as well as other youth events across North Carolina click here.
